Feeling Emptier on My Left Side

Sigh no more, ladies

Sigh no more

Men were deceivers ever

One foot in sea

And one on shore

To one thing constant never

Then sigh not so

And let them go

And be you blithe and bonny

Converting all your sounds of woe

Into hey, nonny nonny!

Bones

hipbones collarbones
hipbones collarbones
hip bones down
into my pitted middle
collar bones side
flimsy as a fiddle
fingers tracing hip bones
eyes tracing collar bones
hip bones
collar bones
connected by the spine

failureregret

I'm tired of this endless nostalgia
Hearing words overlay themselves to form frost
in the shape of typewriter letters over and over until they pierce out the side of my head
I'm tired of this sunlight
telling myself to move but all I can think about
are those letters in my brain
flipping themselves sideways trying to create meaning
of the past of the past trying to shake off their
baby power dust still clinging to the tips
They are slating sideways like some
drunken sledder fuzzy and blurred

I just want them to go away
and stop thinking about this second Saturday in February the second time
because I know another word just formed in my head
now two
they are overlapping and the dust is falling off of them and I can almost hold them
can you see them through my eyes? Into my head where the words are clinging to each other like some mad desperate cats?
I wish they would stop moving
I am becoming nauseous
There are too many words.

Lately

I just want to shake to the Strokes
with a side shimmy
hair flings over my other shoulder
silence
a breath
resume faster swirling to these mad guitars

Come Back To Me

I'm In the Market for a New Hat

Snow

Rehearsal was cancelled today due to the joyous amount of snow.

So Orlee and I went to Rochambo, and then briefly shopping. I have never seen Roch so peaceful, the afternoon and the snow made the place beautifully empty. After stopping in Starbucks and a quick call to Sam, my parents picked me up and we headed to dinner, so I didn't even have to pay for return bus fare. I seriously ate my weight in pasta, at this really interesting restaurant in an old beer all.

BASICALLY today was wonderful and I LOVE MILWAUKEE!

Now I'm homework-ing and listening to History of Lovers. Iron and Wine an Calexio together!!?!? Brilliant.

Finally

In celebration of second semester today I started This Side of Paradise, French Women Don't Get Fat, Walden, Coraline, and Freakanomics. I feel like at least one of those will not be finished. But here are some beautiful pictures of books.

Laszyyzyzy

No exams today, finally.
So I'm in my bed listening to What Would I Want Sky, which is the perfect mix of joyful and relaxed. So happy. And I have a smoothie. And I just booked a facial. Life is lookin up kids.
I'm thinking second semester I will become immortal.

2009

I have this frozen memory of you on a bike bike bike
with a coke in hand
and a flannel on
riding over the grass
to see me maybe later

I have this frozen memory of you on a baseball diamond
with a box of cigarettes
tucked into your
tee shirt sleeve
and then we made some veggie burgers
on english muffins

I have this frozen memory of you on a bike bike bike
massaging my shoulders as we rode
how do you have such good balance
I think it was dangerous for us to be there
But you're tall
so I guess it was ok

I have this frozen memory of you on top of a hill
wait no, we were frozen
I pulled my hat over my eyes
I know it was dangerous for us to be there
but it was necessary
so I know it was okay

I have this frozen memory of you in my life
but I think that
it is possibly
a good time
for me to end this poem
and move on

WOnderful

I'll Be Fine Once I Get It

I'm so hyped on caffeine I can't control my body, completely accidental. I just took my dog for a walk and literally skipped half a block and then did a jig in my driveway. Nooot natural.

The Kid Cudi Pursuit of Happiness video is genius. Wonderful commentary on alcohol and partying, then the ending makes me sad and sick. It reminds me of my New Years.

Let Me Preach

Braids

So with exam week, my hair is perpetually in a braid, which requires no time (and no washing...)

So with exam week, my ass is perpetually online not studying, which requires lots of time (and no productivity...)

I Need Outside

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more,

From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne'er express, yet cannot all conceal.

Lord Byron, from Childe Harold, Canto iv, Verse 178
